Shalom from Camp Solomon Schechter!

Exciting things are happening at Schechter!  I am writing to give you a quick update on our program for this summer.  Even with our fabulous program we had last summer, which included bringing in amazing special guests (Sheldon Low, Maccabee Martial Arts, former Seattle Sounder Craig Tomlinson, and Matisyahu once again) to additions to our program, including Yomanut (Yom Omanut, “Art Day”)  and the Schechter World Cup, we think this summer will top it all.
We recently received an Opportunity Grant from the Samis Foundation to take our arts program to new heights!  Through this grant, we will be able to offer more professional digital photography and video production chuggim, as we are purchasing new cameras, microphones, lights, green screens, etc.  The grant will also fund the purchase of pottery wheels, extruders, tile cutters, and more so that we can offer an exciting pottery chug for the first time in ten summers!

We are also changing our overnights during Gimmel session.  In the past, all campers in Bet and Gimmel session would go for an overnight with their cabin to our campsite on the Deschutes River.  This summer, Bet cabins will continue at our river campsite, while our Gimmel campers will go on an out-of-camp excursion!  The 10th graders will be spending two nights away from Camp, while our 8th and 9th graders will be going on one-night, single-gender trips.  They will enjoy hiking, camping, cooking, playing and shmoozing, creating amazing memories that will last the rest of their lives.

And these are just a few of the wonderful, exciting things added to our camp program this summer…keep an eye out for emails with more information and exciting news!

If you haven’t registered for Camp yet, it’s time to get it done!  Click here, or contact us if you have any other questions.  This is going to be a summer your campers won’t want to miss!
