Dear Gesher families,
We are so excited to be sharing our domestic trip offering for Summer 2024 with you! We appreciate your patience while we finalized the details of what promises to be a meaningful, impactful, and fun summer for your teens. Based on conversations with the teens and with our incredible travel partner Tzedek America we are pleased to offer a one-week leadership institute at camp and trip to Los Angeles, CA for the first half of the summer. This trip is truly a unique opportunity to do deep learning around tikkun olam, and explore LA in a way you would not be able to on a vacation or family trip. This trip is truly a once in a life time experience. We are so proud to be able to offer it—this trip highlights why we at Camp Solomon Schechter have such a deep commitment to the importance of Jewish travel.
Highlights for the summer experience include:
· A weeklong leadership training at Camp Solomon Schechter (June 23-June 30th)
· Meeting with employees and leadership at Homeboy Industries an organization that provides work, mental services, legal services and other services to at risk youth and former gang members.
· Shabbat Services at Beit Tshuva the first Jewish focused recovery program for folks struggling with addiction and with IKAR.
· Team building activates with The Advot Project
· Fourth of July at Dodger Stadium with fireworks on the baseball field
· Exploring the Kosher food scene of Los Angeles
· Star gazing at Griffith Observatory
· Volunteering at the Karsh Center & Synagogue tour at Wilshire Blvd Temple
· A fun day at Disney land
· And so much more.
The cost of this experience is $5000 which includes:
· Transportation (including airfare) from Camp to Los Angeles and return transportation home.
· Accommodations at camp and hotel accommodations in Los Angeles
· All meals during the experience
· All entrance fees to museums, attractions, etc.
