Meet Rosh Ginah (Garden) Oliver Jacobson and Waterfront Supervisor Harel Tal!

Oliver Jacobson, Rosh Ginah

How many years have you been involved with Schechter, and in what capacities?

Unfortunately I was never a camper at CSS, but this is my fourth summer back as a CSS staff member. I spent two years as a madrich (counselor) before coming back last year to run the new Teva Learning Center (Garden Program).

What are you most excited for this summer?

I can’t wait to see the growth of both the amazing fruits and vegetables, as well as the growth of the garden program at camp. Last summer we had an incredible inauguration of the Teva Learning Center, and I’m looking forward to expanding upon last year’s success.  This year I hope to bring more food from garden to plate, and to get campers excited about growing, preparing, and eating their own food.

What is your favorite summer menu item?

Matzah ball soup.

What is your favorite chug?

Garden Chug!

If you could go anywhere, where would it be and why?

The Pacific Northwest. They say home is where your heart is. After a long winter in Montreal, I can’t wait to return home. Though we love to complain about the rain, we’re so fortunate to be living in such a fantastic area of the world. Camp really embodies all of the great things about the PNW; friendly people, beautiful scenery and great weather.

Harel Tal, Waterfront Supervisor

How many years have you been involved with Schechter, and in what capacities?

This will be my 7th summer at camp. I was a camper in 2007, an Oded in 2008 and came back as staff in 2010 and have been coming back every summer since then.

What is your favorite summer menu item?

BBQ

What is your favorite chug?

Swimming/Boating/ Anything at the waterfront.

If you could go anywhere, where would it be and why?

Israel, because of the sunny weather, good food, and because it makes me feel at home.
