ShanaH Tova U’Metukah
Shanah Tova U’Metukah from Camp Solomon Schechter!
As we step into this sweet New Year, we are reminded of the challenges the past year has brought, but also joy and transformation that the past year has brought – both through camp and in our community. Just as Rosh Hashanah offers us the chance for renewal, Schechter has been a place where campers, staff, and families immerse themselves in the sweetness of Jewish life, celebrating traditions, creating lifelong friends, and embracing their authentic selves, which we truly need.
In Hebrew, the word shanah means “year,” but the root letters can also mean “change.” As we enter 5785 in the Hebrew calendar, let us take the spirit of camp – a space filled with joy, kindness, and growth – and challenge ourselves to embody that in our everyday lives. Whether it’s by embracing patience, showing kindness, or pursuing a new passion, we have the opportunity to change and grow, both individually and as a community.
This summer, camp reminded us of the power of connection and the fulfillment that comes from living Jewish values. Our campers left proud to be Jewish and eager to carry that pride into the year ahead. This is what our Jewish community needs. Now, as we prepare for another incredible camp season and our upcoming retreats all year long, we invite you to join us in this spirit of renewal and change. May this shanah bring not only sweetness, but also the inspiration to grow, transform, and make a positive impact.
Wishing you and your family a year filled with joy, kindness, and meaningful change.
Shanah Tova,
Zach Duitch
