We are happy to introduce our new shlicha (Israeli emissary), Chen Midany, to the entire Schechter community! Chen will be joining us at camp this summer to share her love of Israel and Hebrew. She is also working year round in Seattle for Schechter, the tzofim (Israeli scouts) and for the Jewish Day School. If you see her at any of those places, be sure to say ‘hi’ and let her know that you are excited to spend at summer with her at camp!
Chen was born in Jerusalem and grew up in Shoham, which is small city on the outskirts of Tel Aviv. Prior to becoming our shlicha, Chen served for two years in the IDF as a network system counselor in the Artillery Force, and after as a camp shlicha at the JCC day camp in Bridgeport, CT. Chen also coordinated the citywide activities for the 1200 tzofim of Shoham. Chen’s leadership experience in informal education comes from her experience working with Israeli and American Jewish youth.
Chen says she is excited to bring Israel to the Northwest and to expose the Jewish community to Israel in new ways.
