I am thrilled to be able to announce that we have hired a new Head Chef, Dani Knapstad.

Dani grew up in a small town north of Seattle where her love of cooking and camp started while working in Camp Killoqua’s kitchen during her high school summers. She left Washington and went to Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI to pursue her dream of being a chef. She spent four years earning a Bachelors Degree in Culinary Arts, which included two internships: one at Walt Disney World in Florida and another in a vegetarian kitchen at a private school in California.

After college, Dani returned home and back to her childhood camp where she worked as a Chef, created and ran their Culinary Camp program, and, most recently, acted as Food Service Manager. She finds great joy in cooking healthy, delicious food for children. Her love of food and cooking also extends to her hobbies. As a self-taught wedding/specialty cake baker and homemade candy maker, she loves to learn new skills and challenge herself.

She is very excited to bring all sorts of new, delicious menu items to Camp this summer, especially her favorite, dessert.  Last summer, she created a different dessert for every day of Camp (with only three repeats, and those by request)!

If you have questions for her, or just want to give her ideas for food this summer, email her here!
