Shalom Bet, Oded and Madrichim (staff) Parents,

Bet Session has gotten off to a great start! Pizza and fireworks for the first night of camp – is there any better way to kick off camp?!?

So far, archery, swimming, ceramics, band, basketball, gaga and, of course, challenge course seem to be our most popular chuggim (activities). The singing this morning during tefillah (prayers) and the spirit we had during degel (flag) was a great start to a ruach-filled summer. I am so impressed with the skills and derech eretz (respect) of the chanichim(campers). The sun is shining and we are excited for a restful and beautiful Shabbattogether as a kehillah (community).

Last night, the Odedim enjoyed banana boats (bananas filled with chocolate, coconut and marshmallow, cooked over a fire… yum!) by the lake.  They were so happy to be reunited after session break, and it is so wonderful for us to have them back. They are a great group. The madrichim have done an excellent job so far this summer.

We are all so excited for shabbat at camp! Dinner is challah, chicken soup with Matzoh balls, brisket and shepherd’s pie (for our vegetarians and vegans). Please remember that you can contact me on my cell phone in case of emergency on Shabbat, as we do not answer the office phone. I will return emergency messages.

Shabbat Shalom-
Sam Perlin
