We are thrilled to introduce our Judaics supervisor for the upcoming summer, Gabriel Guevara! Gabe comes to us from Walnut Creek, CA, where he works as a music and religious school teacher. Gabe loves playing viola in the woods and going for long walks with his shadow. He is a trained classical saxophonist and loves a wide variety of time periods and musical styles from around the world. Gabe’s dreams include playing backup guitar for Bob Dylan and writing kosher scrolls for mezuzahs!

Gabe graduated with a music degree from the wonderful Dominican University (’11) and earned his teaching credentials (’13) and his masters (’15) from St. Mary’s college of California. Gabe’s favorite Jewish moment in the day is Shacharit (morning prayers), because of its meditative calmness and joyous songs.

This will be Gabe’s first time at sleep away camp, but he’s no stranger to summer camp. With many years as a camper and counselor under his belt, Gabe is ready to have a wonderful time at Camp Solomon Schechter!
