Boating*Hiking*Mixology*Yoga*Zumba and MORE!

Together, we'll enjoy the beauty of camp, the spirituality of Shabbat and the sacredness of being together -- without the pressures of carpools, overscheduling and competing demands. We'll get a chance to enjoy all of the great stuff that Schechter offers -- boating, the new ropes course and zip line (why should our kids get all the fun?), hanging out on the hill……

This is a weekend for you to unwind, be with friends old and new, have meaningful conversations and, if you happen to be so inclined, imbibe a foo-foo drink or two (uh, a l'chaim) as we watch a motzei-Shabbat chick flick. Without commentary from the peanut gallery!

COST: $225

Women’s Retreat Q & A

1. What is the programming? Will it be structured? Will there be free time?
There will be Jewish meditation, Zumba, yoga, movies, mah-jong and more! The focus of the weekend will be “Refresh, Renew and Reconnect.” We’re aiming to have a relaxing weekend that’s not overly structured! You can pick to do as many or as few of the activities offered.

2. Who is organizing the weekend?
Carolyn D'Albora works at the Camp office and is coordinating the weekend along with Seattle chairs Sharon Perlin and Elizabeth Davis. We are open to suggestions!

3. I’m good at _________. Can I organize some activity for the weekend?
Gifted in stirring up the perfect cocktail? Prepare the perfect parfait? Mahjong maven? Artsy-craftsy? Feel free to share your skills and step up to lead an activity!

4. Who is invited?
Not Schechter alum? No worries! This weekend is open to all women over 21! Bring your sister, mother, friend, daughter….

5. Can we invite others?
Absolutely! The more, the merrier! Email Carolyn who will be happy to send you some flyers to distribute.

6. What’s the timing for the weekend?
You can arrive as early as 3 pm on Friday. Shabbat dinner will begin at 7 PM. If you need to arrive later, just let us know and we will make special arrangements.  You are welcome to stay for a delicious lunch and relax until 2 PM on Sunday. And you don’t have any lunch clean up duties, either.

7. What’s for breakfast/lunch/dinner?
We’re not planning to serve mac and cheese out of a box or fish sticks. And, we’re not planning to have you do the clean up after meals. Schechter is known for serving great meals to our kids – and to grown ups during Men’s Weekend and Family Camp. Why should it be any different for us ladies? We’ll be sure to have vegetarian/vegan-friendly options at all meals. Friday night will be fleishigs (a meat meal). But no worries: cocktails and wine are parve.

8. Which movie are you showing on Saturday night?
We’re open to suggestions as long as it doesn’t involve blowing up bridges, imploding planets, screaming super heroes or animated woodland creatures. We’re thinking of a film along the lines of something we’d wish our spouses would swoon over – in an alternate universe.

9. Will there be a Jewish component to the weekend?
We are planning to have Shabbat discussion group. Topic: TBD We’re also planning to have a camp-style Havdalah complete with a bonfire on Saturday night! In addition, we will be offering Jewish Meditation as one of the activities during the weekend. We will have Jewish Educator Nance Adler join us as spiritual leader for the weekend.

10. Tell me about the accommodations.
Camp Solomon Schechter has heated cabins complete with showers and bathrooms. As we get closer to the date, we will be assigning cabins so please indicate if you would like a private cabin or would prefer to sleep in a cabin with others.

11. What do we need to bring?
You will need to bring your own bedding including a pillow. Bring a yoga mat, if you have one. You’ll want warm clothes, good walking shoes, a swim suit if you think you’re going to go into the lake (as if!), a towel…you know the usual stuff you’d take for a weekend at camp. You can leave the pantyhose, high heels and work clothes at home.

12. What is “goal” of weekend? Is it to reconnect/rekindle with camp? Just a get-away? Recruit new camper families?
Yes.

13. What is a “challenge course” and how long will this activity take?
The challenge course, also called the ropes course, is an outdoor structure that consists of high and low elements that are designed to empower you to rise above your fear as you take on different levels of challenges. Going through our course, which features a giant swing and multiple elements, can take anywhere between 3 - 4 hours.
