This is a schedule from Bet session. The times change slightly depending on the session, with younger campers waking up and going to bed earlier, and older campers waking up and going to bed later.
8:00 Kima (wake up) 8:30 Degel (flag raising) At degel our Israeli Scouts wake us up with cheers and songs, and we sing the anthems of our American, Israeli, and Canadian campers. 8:45 Aruchat Boker (breakfast) Campers enjoy a hot breakfast everyday in our beautiful log cabin chadar ochel (dining hall). Pancakes, eggs, hash browns, and assorted cereals are among our campers' favorites! 9:30 Shacharit (morning prayers) We begin each morning at Schechter with a short, interactive, and lively Schacharit service in the Lehrer Family Amphitheater outside on the shore of Lake Stampfer, our own private camp lake. When the weather permits, our services are conducted outside, and in the rain we move into our Bet Knesset, a cherished spot in camp where everything is made from campers - from the Torah ark, to the benches, to the timeline of Jewish history that lines the ceiling! 10:00 Nikayon (cabin clean-up) 10:30 Chug Rishon (first activity) During chug times, campers can participate in any of our engaging and fun activities. Our program includes:
11:30 Maccabiah Maccabiah is the official Camp Solomon Schechter Olympics - a tradition that dates back to the beginning of camp! 12:30 Wash up in cabins 1:00 Aruchat Tzoharayim (lunch) From grilled cheese to chicken nuggets to pizza, lunch is a time when the whole camp gathers together to eat, sing, and catch up with bunkmates about the day so far! 2:00 Menucha (rest time) This quiet cabin time is the perfect opportunity to rest, write letters, and shmooze with friends. 3:00 Chug Sheini (second activity) This is the time for creative Judaic programming. Campers participate in activities such as Jewish cooking, Judaic art, Tikkun Olam, Scouts, and Teva (Judaism and Nature). Our older campers have an opportunity to challenge and develop their Jewish identity on a deeper level, with programs such as a mock Israeli Parliament, Arab/Israeli Conflict simulation, and an interfaith dating debate. 4:00 Chug Shlishi (third activity) During this chug, campers get another chance to learn and play at one of our program areas (see Chug Rishon). 5:00 Chofesh (Free time) Campers can enjoy free swim, pick up canteen and mail, or go to one of several open program areas. 6:00 Aruchat Erev (dinner) Dinner is a time for lots of singing, funny skits, and great food!
