![]() The heart of Camp Solomon Schechter is our dedicated and caring staff. Staff members are carefully selected for their experience, skills, and sensitivity with children. Our counselors come from all over the United States, Canada, and Israel. The majority of our staff have spent their lives at Schechter, creating a link to years past and continuing age-old traditions. Senior counselors have all completed a year of college, and junior counselors are entering college or are 12th graders who have completed our Oded Program. Participants in our Oded Program - Schechter’s Counselor-In-Training and Leadership Program - are entering 11th grade, or are 12th graders new to camp. All of our staff are required to participate in an orientation and training program prior to the campers' arrival. A high camper-to-staff ratio ensures that each camper receives personal attention and guidance for the duration of their camp experience. In addition to our cabin staff, we also have a skilled program staff, including specialists in Jewish Education, sports, arts & crafts, music, dance, nature, waterfront, boating and more. In addition to our own beloved Camp Rabbi, many of our wonderful regional Rabbis, Cantors, and educators make guest appearances at camp, adding their insight and experience to so much more than just Jewish learning at camp. Do you want to join the Schechter team? Are you ready for the summer of your life? The Schechter staff is a team of 100 responsible men and women, dedicated to making a difference in the lives of our campers. While working at a summer camp is hard work - with long hours, little sleep, and very little privacy, the rewards are huge: living in nature, the rewards of working with kids, and the great friends that will last a lifetime. We have extremely high standards for our summer staff, because we know they are the most important part of the campers’ experience at Schechter. After a summer working at Schechter, you will have gained invaluable skills as a counselor, programmer, educator, manager, problem-solver, and team-player. Apply now!
